Body intelligence can save you
Reconnect to your full-body intelligence can help you avoid burnout and build a happier, healthier life with long-lasting success.
Your nervous system is a dense network of over 7 billion nerve endings endlessly collecting data. Through a process called neuroception, it runs continuous, real-time analysis of your environment, your relationships, your energy levels, how you feel about what you're doing — everything.
This is way more information than your cognitive mind could ever process directly.
Your sensory system is an intelligence that often precedes your cognitive awareness. Before you've had time to formulate a thought, your body has already taken a precise reading.
An example we've all experienced: you're sitting outside having a coffee with a friend or enjoying a lunchbreak stroll through the park. A bug almost flies into your eye. In a fraction of a second, your hand lifts and swats the bug away before your conscious mind has even registered that it exists.
This is your body-based intelligence in action. And just like it can keep a fly from crashing into your retina, it can keep you from crashing into burnout.
We are burning out
The modern workforce is in crisis:
67% of global workers are experiencing burnout symptoms. (Gallup, 2025)
Women report burnout 10 percentage points higher than men (72% vs. 62%). (McKinsey, 2025)
$322 billion per year in lost US productivity is attributed to burnout and disengagement. (Gallup)
I experienced this myself six years ago. Just a few days before one of the most important deadlines of my career — leading production for a €300K+ project at a global art institution — my executive functioning totally collapsed. I froze. I couldn't speak.
I went home and spent the best part of the next 3 months on the couch, unable to hold a conversation for more than 10 minutes. It took me a year to get back to my normal energy and performance levels.
Regulate today
You don’t have to crash to discover the value of reconnecting to your body. You can start regulating today.
Developing somatic awareness means learning to read your body intelligence again. Unmuting the signals. Developing the skill of listening. Making what your body already knows legible and usable to your strategizing brain.
That's not soft or weak. That's making the wise choice to use your full intelligence: mind and body, working together to build a healthy, successful and meaningful life.
